Elk Mountain Operations

Welcome to Elk Mountain Soaring. Thanks Again for joining and for supporting glider operations in Morgan.

This forum will initially provide:
1. Tow operation info: Specifically, a listing of club tow-pilots, (i.e., who they are, who is covering relevant Saturday operations, who is available for non-Saturday flights...., etc.) The listing will include appropriate contact information.
2. Comments: A discussion area for member inputs, club interactions, plans, etc.

Tow Operations:
This Saturday, Stan McGrew (mcgrew@utah-inter.net, 876-3259) will be the primary tow pilot. As a courtesy, if you would like to fly, please advise him of your intent and your projected take-off time.

For other tows this month (April), Stan will also be the principle contact. Note: I will create a "tow-pilot" list and post it to this site. The list (for EMS members)will provide the names and contact information of all EMS tow pilots.

Comments:
We were casually talking about a possible soaring safari at Nephi sometime in June. Anyone interested?

Would you ever consider going a little further south like to Filmore or Salina Gunnison? Lehi is just a 30 minute flight (on a good day) from Cedar Valley so it might get tough to get much participation from the locals that fly over Nephi all the time. Just a thought. Thanks for thinking of safaris!

Since we are on the subject, here are a few airports I would eagerly participate in if a safari was set up: Logan, Filmore, Price, Richfield, Parowan, Duchesne, Wells NV, Ely NV.

Safe Soaring,
Bruno

I would like to safari's, as many as possible, that are planned and published as far as possible in advance to get the word out and allow scheduling.

I believe that starting with the local 4 airports, Cedar Valley, Heber, Morgan and Logan, would be great. This way we can have local experts provide overview of local TO, landing, soaring, and XC knowledge and the ability to combine tow resources (assuming that UGLY would be available at the field being utilized).

Other airports would be great and a few that Bruno mentioned have adequate tow resources, Ely and Parowan.
